Course Overview: This course is part of the Doctorate Degree Program in Thanatology at the School of Grief Education at AITU.
It is a 6-hour semester course that must be completed within 6 weeks.
This course reviews the most commonly known 20th and 21st century psychological and scientific approaches towards psychotherapy.
Course Assignments: There are 13 assignments for which the student has one mandatory book and several videos as materials. The student has to make use of the materials from the complete program and what they seem appropriate and relevant material located elsewhere in the public domain.
Course Objectives:
- Become familiar with some of the major approaches to counseling and therapy.
- Gain a working knowledge of several important therapeutic techniques.
- Understand the basic theoretical background of different approaches to therapy.
- Apply the theoretical understanding of the material to case vignettes.
- Be able to discern which approaches/techniques are best suited to different clients/ situations
