What Will Learn?
This course will focus on the key concepts and ideas within the field of Islamic economics and how they relate to contemporary economic theory and practice. By beginning with an introduction to two major financial systems, students will have a background against which they may develop a comparative understanding of the Islamic economic system. This course is a good starting point for those wishing to pursue further studies leading to a career in Islamic economics, finance, or banking. The module will provide students with an adequate understanding of the theoretical underpinnings of the Islamic system and how it proposes to deal with contemporary issues. This is a 4-credit-hour course and is allotted 6 weeks of time.
